Hi, I am Johan Enslin
Born in Namibia and shaped by the stillness of its wild places, I’ve spent nearly a decade guiding and photographing across Southern Africa. The bush has been my classroom for as long as I can remember, and over the years it’s taught me that the best moments rarely announce themselves. They reveal themselves slowly to those willing to wait.
My work sits at the intersection of guiding and photography. I’ve led guests through some of the continent’s most remarkable landscapes — Namibia’s Etosha, Damaraland, and the Skeleton Coast; Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Chobe; and South Africa’s Kruger region, Sabi Sands and Timbavati. Each place has its own rhythm, and learning to read those rhythms is what I love most about this work.
My guiding career began in South Africa, where my connection to Photography first took root. From there, I expanded across borders, leading photographic safaris that combine technical knowledge with a genuine appreciation for the wild. As part of the Go Gravel Photo Safaris team, I now lead specialist photographic journeys built around Africa’s great landscapes and wildlife encounters. Whether I’m working alongside seasoned photographers or helping someone capture their very first frame in the bush, my approach is always personal and patient. The goal isn’t only to come home with strong images — it’s to create moments that deepen your connection to nature and to Africa itself.
Beyond the qualifications and the gear, what I really offer is a way of seeing. Guiding, for me, is about more than sightings. It’s about learning to see. The wilderness speaks softly, and patience is what lets you hear it.
I’d love to share that with you out there.
